Software Engineer, Cybermind Interactive Nederland
Almar Klein studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Twente. In his PhD he developed algorithms to study the motions of stent grafts in abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA), using ECG-gated CT data.
During that time, he came in touch with Python as a tool for scientific computing. To be able to visualize the data and algorithm results, he started working on Visvis, a scientific visualization toolkit based on Python and OpenGL. Currently, Almar is involved in Vispy, a collaborative project that has the goal to become the next generation visualization toolkit for Python. Further, he is the main author of the Interactive Editor for Python (IEP).
He currently works on applying augmented reality in a clinical setting, such as an operating room.
